Introduction to Pendulum Monsters
Last Updated: July 21st 2022

General Introduction:
Pendulum Summoning has undergone a major rework in order to be somewhat unique in Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL, after all, the mechanic becomes a lot less important when you can summon as many level 4 or lower Monsters of your choosing during your turn as part of the normal Cross Duel ruleset. So how does it work here?
Pendulum Summoning is now centered around two skills; Pendulum Scale (Red) and Pendulum Scale (Blue). Using these skills will convert your Monsters into Pendulum Monsters - but each monster can only be a certain Scale, they cannot stack both Red and Blue Pendulum Scale skills. The color Scale a card has is indicated below the card artwork in your hand and on the duel field.

Once a monster has been properly summoned, at the start of the Battle Phase, you will gain a Pendulum Scale “icon” above your player icon. It is important to note you cannot gain more than one icon of each color - just one Red Scale and one Blue Scale. These icons stay regardless of whether your monsters are destroyed by battle or skill effect during this turn.

On your next Main Phase you are then able to use those scales to Summon a single Normal/Effect/Pendulum Monster without using any Summon Materials. Once you do, those scales are removed from your player icon and must then be re-built in order to Pendulum Summon on further turns. However, you aren’t forced to use the Pendulum Scales, you can always save them for a future turn and summon your high level Monsters using normal Tribute Summon mechanics.
