Gems are the most important resource in Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL, being mandatory for pulling new and duplicate cards from the Card Gacha to strengthen your decks and card collection. We’ve compiled a list of all locations you can obtain Gems from, including expected amounts and periodical refreshes.

Ranked Duels:

Playing Ranked Matches is the easiest and quickest way to farm for Gems. Not only can you receive one-time only Gem rewards upon reaching a new Rank for the first time (including a Guaranteed UR Ticket at Silver Rank 2) but also a total of 700 Gems from Cumulative Season Rewards, which reset after each Ranked Duels season ends.

Battle Rewards are where your main Gem Income will stem from. After each Ranked Duel you will receive a number of points towards unlocking either a Bronze, Silver or Gold Treasure Box. Once you reach 100 points for a particular box, one will open and grant you 3 rewards from the lineup. The surprising thing is there is no limit on the type of reward you can obtain, meaning all 3 rewards in a Treasure Box can be Gems. Therefore you can get a Maximum of 60 Gems from completing a Gold Chest, 21 from Silver and 6 from Bronze. Usually you will receive at least 1 Gem reward, but seeing 2 or 3 is incredibly common.

You will also receive a Gem Reward at the end of the season based on your highest placement during the season. Reaching the highest Rank (Gold 1) will net you 400 Gems.

Raid Duels:

Much like Ranked Duels, there are three different types of rewards to obtain from playing Raid Duels. One-time-only Gem rewards can be obtained by clearing specific Raid Boss levels as well as reaching specific Raid Grade’s for cumulatively completing Raid Boss levels. Reaching Grade A (Which will take you a few months/Seasons of Raid Duels) will net you a total of 700 Gems.

Cumulative Season Rewards, which reset at the beginning of a new Season are also present - and like Ranked Duels will earn you a total of 600 Gems. In addition you will also gain rewards after successfully defeating a Raid Boss in a Duel. The higher the Raid Boss Level - the higher the maximum number of Gems which can be obtained. Like with Ranked Duels, you can receive Gems multiple times from the lineup, though not in the same quantity as with that mode.

Tag Duels:

With Tag Duels being the main PVE mode, every Gem you earn in this mode is limited - only available to be earned once. For every character pair in Tag Duels you can earn a Maximum of 50 Gems by defeating them at level 10, 20 and 30 difficulties - and can earn more Cumulative Reward Gems by completing the reward tracks for each Tag Duel Series (DM through SEVENS) or Tag Duel Cumulative Rewards. It is expected as more characters are added more Gems will become available to earn.

Challenge Duels:

A total of 700 Gems can be obtained by completing the Challenge Duel tutorials. Some of these will have been completed in the General and Raid Duel tutorials, but these can be completed in under 10-15 minutes total. Check out our Duel Challenge Guide for the full Gem breakdown per tutorial.

Missions:

Gem rewards are plentiful for completing specific Normal Missions and will be obtained naturally throughout your time playing Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL. Sometimes Konami will add special Limited-Time Missions which reward Gems, and daily you can earn 20 Gems by completing 1 game in Raid Duels and 1 game in Ranked Duels.

Log-In Bonuses:

Konami offers a daily Gem reward just for opening the game. The amount of Gems you obtain daily depends on the multiplier you land on after spinning the Bonus Slot. This can range from a minimum of 10 Gems per day - with extended bonuses happening on day 7 bringing the minimum up to 50 Gems. At a maximum you could be receiving hundreds of Gems a week if luck is in your favor.

New Player & Celebration Bonuses:

Periodically Konami will offer Gem rewards for new players and special campaigns. When starting Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL you will obtain 2400 Gems over a 1 week login period, and for reaching 500,000 Pre Registrations, an additional 1200 Gems will be awarded too.

Events:

It is expected that Gems and other items will form part of the reward structure for future Events in Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL, however these have yet to start as of Pre-Season 1 ending.
